Dubrovnik OLD TOWN

OLD TOWN of Dubrovnik

The map above shows the historical centre of Dubrovnik with
its most important sights.

Entrances to the City Walls [1] are situated close to both gates (PILE & PLOCE). Visitors can climb the intact medieval walls there and can walk on them around the whole historical centre.

The main bus stop is a the PILE Gate. From this bus stop you can easily reach the main bus station (e.g. excursions out of Dubrovnik) and the main port of the town (GRUZ).

When you walk out of the PLOCE Gate you can reach the Old Town Beach (BANJE) in a two minutes walk only. The Eastwest Beach Club is to be found on this beach.

LOKRUM Island & ELAPHITE Islands

Regular boat connections to the Island of LOKRUM and to the
picturesque town of CAVTAT are provided during season from
the Old Town PORT.

On LOKRUM are the Benedictine Abbey, a Botanic Garden and
many intimate beaches (also one for nudists).

Nova Dubrovnik offers ferry connections to the ELAPHITE Islands (Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan) also from the Old Town PORT. Especially Lopud with its long bay promenade and vast sandy beaches is a must!

ARBORETUM in Trsteno

The village of Trsteno is situated 15 km West of Dubrovnik and
offers a beautiful attraction: the ARBORETUM.

It's Croatia's oldest Renaissance park dating to the 15th & 16th
century and offering a rich collection of exotic plants, trees and
Mediterranean garden architecture.

Trsteno can be reached by local bus lines from the main bus station. See our FAQ for the schedule.

SPLIT & KORCULA Island

Dubrovnik and Split are well connected by intercity bus lines. There are more than ten buses per day and it's only about a three hours drive. You can take a bus in the morning, see the Diocletian Palace in SPLIT and return in the evening!

For an excursion to the Island of KORCULA we recommend a car rental - Ferry and bus connections are unfortu-nately not that frequent.

From Dubrovnik the town of Korcula can be reached in two hours by car. You will drive along the whole length of the PELJESAC Peninsula till you reach Orebic (car carrying ferry to Korcula Island).

Peljesac is known for its wine growing and you will also see lots of fascinating sceneries! Plus, you will pass the medieval towns of MALI STON and STON. In Mali Ston several excellent restaurants offer delicious local fish dishes!
